Fly into DCA

Easiest option. No car needed with access to green and yellow lines on the metro and taking 20 minutes into the city via train. Uber/lyft also good options if you prefer that route, and might save some time depending on traffic.

Fly into Dulles

Also very doable. On the metro line (silver) which takes about an hour to get into the city, or around $60 via uber or Lyft. Note that it often does not save time to take a taxi from the airport rather than the train. Be prepared to take a 'people mover' from the airport which can add 30 minutes to transit time after deplaning.

Fly into Baltimore

Very chill airport but not the easiest to link to the city via train. We recommend taking a Uber/lyft into the city if this ends up being the best airport for you.

Drive to DC

Getting into the DC often involves heavy traffic and if you plan to drive here Saturday, please allow 2 extra hours for possible event traffic (not for our wedding! you never know what other events are happening on the weekend but there are many cars). If you don't have much experience in the city, please drive safely and keep your head on a swivel! This option may be more expensive as hotels will fleece you with parking charges, but if you stay outside the city it could be cost effective.

While in DC...

Walk, bike (scooter), train, taxi!

If you haven't experienced the tacky yet delightful joys of cruising in a lime scooter through the mall or in the bike lanes, we suggest you try it. You will need an uber app to ride a lime scooter.

Capitol Bikeshare is a great option and offers both e-bikes and manual pedaling. It works through the Lyft app as well, which can be convenient if you have it downloaded. (https://capitalbikeshare.com/)

The DC metro is the highest functioning (our opinion) city transit system in the US. It's air conditioned and usually on time. Google is very good at providing itineraries if you click on the train emoji once you search for directions. Note that you can now use your credit card directly as a metro card, or you can tap your phone if you have the metro card saved your digital wallet: https://www.wmata.com/pay/smart-trip/mobilepay.html

A note about logistics

Some hotel options

Organized below by price per evening.

* Note cheaper prices are available outside the city but are less convenient, and you may not be able to bank the savings depending on your plan for taxi versus metro. For this option, we recommend Takoma Park (MD) or Alexandria (VA)!

Motto by Hilton

< $200

We have a hotel block at Motto by Hilton hotel. If this is not your vibe, there's no pressure to book! We don't lose money if we don't hit our block numbers.

The Line DC

< $250

This is a swanky good value place that is in a very fun neighborhood! Note the price can be under $200 if you sign up for their program.

Citizen M Hotel

< $150

Note price is highly variable depending on when you book. This hotel is not close to our venue but it is a quick walk to the metro or the many museums on the mall. Quiet neighborhood, close to NASA HQ. Rooms are TINY. It's a capsule style hotel.

Some airbnb options

We haven't stayed at any of these but they look nice!
